Here are samples acknowledging performance reviews How to Write Acknowledgement for Performance Review: Sample GuideĪcknowledging an employee’s hard work and dedication to their job is essential for a successful performance review. It also shows that you take the evaluation seriously and value your employer’s input on your professional development.Īcknowledging the review also helps ensure ongoing trust between yourself and your employer and demonstrates your commitment to improving your skills.īy recognizing the review and engaging with its contents, you can more effectively use it to drive your career forward. Importance of acknowledging a Performance ReviewĪcknowledging a performance review is important to demonstrate respect for the opinions and feedback expressed in it. In the same vein, varied sentence structure will make the writing less monotonous and add interest to the piece. Use facts and emotions to create a natural conversation between the reviewer and the reviewed.Ĭolloquial language can be employed to create a more human atmosphere. The review should focus on achievements and challenges faced during the assessed period, including setting goals for future development.Ī successful review should be honest and constructive, using clear and succinct language representing the writer’s knowledge and skills. It can give employees and employers helpful feedback on their performance and opportunities for growth. What Is a Performance Review?Ī performance review evaluates an individual’s work performance, typically conducted by their manager or supervisor. This guide explains what a performance review entails, the importance of acknowledging it, and examples to inspire your acknowledgment. Many companies encourage employees to actively participate in the appraisal process by providing honest, two-way feedback at supervisor meetings. When you react to your supervisor’s performance review, you can discuss your abilities, expertise, and career. Knowing how to write acknowledgement for performance review is a crucial skill. Project managers are high in demand and the demand is set to increase.Project management is very rewarding and job satisfaction is high in comparison with other job profiles.Let us understand why you can pursue this field: As is mentioned above, you can develop the skills but you should be clear on why you want to pursue the field. But, to succeed, you need to have a passion for driving a project from inception to closure. It is but natural to be attracted to the high salary that a project manager can earn. List of top recruiters based on their pay: Company But getting into these can be quite challenging as they generally have a rigorous recruitment process and tend to require higher aptitude and problem-solving skills than average. Normally, tech giants Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Goldman Sachs pay more than average. Your salary will also depend on the company you are working in. Because of the demand, the project manager’s salary in India is one of the highest. In contrast to a product that evolves with customer needs, a project carries a clear definition of what needs to be delivered. But now, having been used in businesses and organizations, these projects are growing in scope so there is a need to divide them into chunks of sub-projects.ĭepending on the product to be delivered, a project has a specified time frame within which it is initiated and completed. In the past, the simple ‘project’ of buying a car could just mean that the family in the household needs to save to pay for it. The activities could be further divided especially if the project is something big. Something needs to be done for a common goal which could be as simple as buying an expensive item or as complicated as constructing a satellite. The process that involves managing a project from idea to completion is project management. Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements. With their limited data, they found that the maximum load resistance of plain bars was approximately 60% of those recorded for identical specimens reinforced with deformed bars. Hassan and Feldman proposed an equation for predicting the maximum load resistance for plain lap-spliced bars based on their experimental study using 11 specimens. The geometric properties of bars also affect the lap splice strength. Cohn and Bartlett defined ductility index, µ, as the ratio of displacement at 85% of the maximum load at the post-peak portion of the load–displacement curve to the displacement corresponding to the intersection of tangents (i.e., tangents to the load–displacement curve at the origin and point of maximum displacement), as shown in Figure 1. If transverse reinforcement is spaced apart outside the lap splice region, then splitting cracks can propagate toward this region their widths can exceed those of cracks inside the lap splice region. The absence of transverse reinforcement causes splitting failure with concrete cover spalling in the lap splice region. Moreover, a certain amount of transverse reinforcement must be provided over the lap splice to achieve sufficient ductility. found that the equation specified by ACI 318 (1995) does not ensure the ductile behavior of beams with tension lap splice. Accordingly, more recent bond strength and development length equations do not include this factor. However, the strain gauge data of stirrups in lap-spliced specimens show that transverse reinforcement yielding is extremely rare, so it does not contribute to the bond strength of the lap splice. Among the variables used in their formulated equation is the yield strength of transverse reinforcement. The equation specified by the ACI 318 (1995) for a lap splice was also based on the equation developed by Orangun et al. performed a number of experiments on lap-spliced specimens and proposed an equation to predict the bond strength of lap splices. Moreover, the yielding of bars must occur before lap splice failure. Lap splices must be sufficiently long to provide adequate bond strength such that force can be transferred from one bar to the other. The provision of lap splices is inevitable in reinforced concrete (RC) structures for several reasons: the unavailability of required rebar length on-site, the necessity of connecting rebars with different diameters, and the requisite of construction joints. The comparison of bond strengths calculated by existing equations and those of tested specimens indicated that the results agreed well. The effect of this concentration was investigated based on test results. Stress flow discontinuity occurred at the loaded end and caused stress concentration. The strain in a rebar was maximum at the loaded end of the lap splice and progressively decreased toward the unloaded end because the rebar at this end could not sustain any load. Several strain gauges were attached to the longitudinal bars in the lap splice region to study the local behavior of deformed bars during loading. The other half of the beams were designed with a lap splice length slightly exceeding that recommended by ACI 318-19 they failed by rebar yielding and exhibited a ductile behavior. Half of these beams had shorter lap splices than that recommended by American Concrete Institute Building Code ACI 318-19 they failed by bond loss between steel and concrete at the lap splice region before rebar yielding. Twelve full-scale reinforced concrete beams with two tension lap splices were constructed and tested under a four-point loading test. Focus on the specimen you are trying to identify and go through the questions in your dichotomous tree to see if you get it identified at the end. Once you have completed your dichotomous key, test it out to see if it works. Here you can use a tree diagram or a flowchart as in the examples below. You can either create a text-based dichotomous key or a graphical one where you can even use images of the specimen you are trying to identify. Continue to subdivide your specimen by asking enough questions until you have identified and named all of them. For example, first, you may have grouped your animals as have feathers and have no feathers, in which case the ones with feathers can be categorized as birds while you can further subdivide the ones that have no feathers as having fur and having no fur. The first differentiation should be made on the most general characteristic.īased on the next contrasting characteristic, divide the specimen further. has feathers and no feathers) or questions (does it have feathers?) to divide your specimens into two groups. So it helps to have identified the more obvious and less obvious contrasting characteristics among the specimen before creating your dichotomous key. When creating your dichotomous key, you need to start with the most general characteristics first, before moving to the more specific ones. Step 2: Organize the characteristics in order You may notice that some have feathers whereas others have legs, or some have long tails and others don’t. For example, say you are trying to classify a group of animals. List down the characteristics that you can notice. Pay attention to the specimens you are trying to identify with your dichotomous key. Organizing large amounts of information to make identification of an organism much easierīelow we have listed the steps you need to follow when creating a dichotomous key.Helping students easily understand harder scientific concepts. To easily draw connections between species to better establish proposed phylogeny create Cladograms. Most often, they are used to identify plant and animal species, although it can be used to classify any object that can be identified by a set of observable characteristics. It can be done in both a graphical (as a branching flowchart or written format - series of paired statements organized sequentially). the number of legs, weight, height, etc.) factors are considered. physical attributes such as how the organism looks, what color it is, etc.) and quantitative (i.e. When creating a dichotomous key, both qualitative (i.e. The further you divide the key, the more you learn about the specimen you are trying to identify. By correctly selecting the right choice at each stage, the user will be able to identify the name of the organism at the end. “Dichotomous” means divided into two parts, hence the dichotomous keys always present two choices based on the key characteristics of the organism in each step. Simply put, it is a method used to identify a species by answering a series of questions based on contrasting features (eg: physical characteristics) that have two possible outcomes. It’s the most commonly used form of classification or type of identification key used in biology as it simplifies identifying unknown organisms. people, animals, plants, bacteria, etc.) into specific categories based on their characteristics. Students and professionals use the dichotomous key to identify and classify objects (i.e. Download them as PNGs, JPEGs, SVGs or PDFs for publishing, printing, and sharing. Some examples are provided in the dichotomous key examples section you can use any template to start your project right away. In this simple guide, we will explain what is a dichotomous key and how to create one. It helps identify organisms by directing the user to look at the known organisms. With new species being discovered every day, it’s important to have techniques in place to identify and classify them. In the field of biology, classification plays a major role. We have constructed a simple light calculation using a plate to represent the base of an aquarium, with the light source 30 cm over the plate. But from the artificial light source, the distance is much less and therefore critical for how much light the plants receive. In daylight, this distance doesn't mean anything, as the distance to the sun is enormous. The amount of light decreases considerably with the distance from the light source to the base of the tank, and from the centre out to the corners of the aquarium. Type 1) is far better than no reflector at all (None)! As a rule of thumb however, even a poor reflector (e.g. If black stripes appear in the reflection (see the example on the right in the top picture), it means there are areas of the tube from where the reflector cannot catch the light - which reduces the utilization of light. If there is no black band visible in the reflection, the reflector is "perfect". Mount the reflector on a fluorescent tube lamp and look at the reflection of the tube in the reflector. It is easy to ascertain in the shop which reflector is best. Note that there is a large difference in the quality of reflectors - we have tried to illustrate this with a photo series! Our calculations show that a good reflector can give up to 4 times better utilization of the light. Luckily, it is possible to buy reflectors separately and mount them afterwards in the vast majority of lamps. Many cheap starter sets are delivered with a standard lamp without reflectors. Remember to use reflectors in your lamp so as to get up to 4 x better use out of the light! The table shows the amount of light (lumens) from one 15 Watt T8 tube in a starter set compared with sunlight, typically that found in the living room - there is more light in the aquarium than in the living room, but considerably less than plants would experience under natural growth conditions. Our recommendations, in lumens/watts per litre, are given based upon many years' experience using T5 fluorescent tube lighting. The picture series shows the same aquarium (54 litre starter set) with A) standard T8 tube of 15 Watts, B) T5 tube of 24 Watts, and C) 2 x T5 tubes with 24 Watts per tube, in order to visualize how much more light is given off by using a T5 tube rather than a T8 tube, the same amount as you get from switching from one tube to two tubes.Ī simple and cheap way to use the light optimally is by always using a good reflector (read more about reflectors here) as well as by ensuring that the temperature - especially during summer - does not get too high inside the lamp (read more about the amount of light given off and temperature here). For "Medium" plants, we recommend 20-40 lumen (0.5 to 1 watts) per litre, while "Advanced" plants require more than 40 lumens (1 watt) per litre. If you have chosen nothing but "Easy" plants, 10-20 lumen (0.25 to 0.5 watts) per litre is adequate. That all depends upon which plants you have chosen for your aquarium. (20 lumens corresponding to 0.5 watt T5 tube per litre, 40 lumens corresponding approximately to 1 watt T5/litre.) To make it simple, we explain here how many lumens we recommend per litre of water in an aquarium for a selection of plants from the Easy, Medium or Advanced category. The value is written on the packaging for all light bulbs, fluorescent tube lamps, LEDs, etc. Lumens refer precisely to how much light a particular light source gives off, rather than how much energy it produces. It is advisable instead to find the number on the packaging which tells you how many lumens the light source produces. However, this makes it very difficult to compare different kinds of light sources, because light bulbs, fluorescent tube lamps and LED lighting are not directly comparable on this point. Previously, a light bulb or fluorescent tube lamp was classified by how much electricity it used (Wattage). The lumen, level of brightness, is always written on the packaging. Here, we show you how you can put the information from the packaging on the fluorescent tube or bulb to practical use in the aquarium. Choose the correct light source for your needs Within in a script object, you work with other objects, including:ĪppleScript defines classes for boolean values, scripts, text, numbers, and other kinds of objects for working in scripts for a complete list, see Class Reference. AppleScript defines classes for the objects you most commonly work with, starting with the top-level script object, which is the overall script you are working in. An object is an instantiation of a class definition, which can include properties and actions. When you write, compile, and execute scripts, everything you work with is an object. AppleScript and ObjectsĪppleScript is an object-oriented language. There are also third-party editors for AppleScript. In addition, Script Editor provides a contextual menu to insert many types of boilerplate script statements, such as conditionals, comments, and error handlers.Ī dictionary is the part of a scriptable application that specifies the scripting terms it understands. You can also turn on or off the Script Assistant, a code completion tool that can suggest and fill in scripting terms as you type. Script Editor has text formatting preferences for various types of script text, such as language keywords, comments, and so on. In the Script Editor Preferences, you can also choose to keep a history of recent results or event logs. Script Editor can display the result of executing an AppleScript script and can display a log of the Apple events that are sent during execution of a script. It provides the ability to edit, compile, and execute scripts, display application scripting terminologies, and save scripts in a variety of formats, such as compiled scripts, applications, and plain text. The Script Editor application is located in /Applications/Utilities. This chapter describes basic concepts that underlie the terminology and rules covered in the rest of this guide. |
